American History


Purpose:
Designed to educate and inform students about our American history. This course will start from the beginnings of civilization and end with Reconstruction after the Civil War. We will be covering important events around the world until Reconstruction after the Civil War.

V. Articles of Confederation

VIII. Domestic and Foreign Conflicts
IX. Civil War
X. Civil War Reconstruction


Book:
The American Journey text will be issued to you at the beginning of the semester. You are required to bring it each day to class unless otherwise noted.

Projects:

Research Project:
We will be doing a research project that will cover a key event or person in American history. It will be a 3-5 paged typed paper. You will be given class time and time in the library to work on your projects.

Become the teacher:
A group of students will be selected to represent a certain event or period of time that they will research. They will then present the information to the class using PowerPoint or an overhead.

Political Cartoons:
We will use political cartoons to illustrate events and people in American history. Class time and materials will be provided. These will be done in groups and individually.
